Never could compare it side by side to other units but the other engineers used to complain that it didn't quite sound like the Neve 1073 to them enough. The X73i uses the Grayhill 71 series rotary switches in its equalizer section and also in the input attenuator. The 1073 was more clear than the vintech x73 and sounded better, but it doesn't have the same natural compression on cymbals as the dual 72.
